Marilyn and I transported a bat and Red-tailed Hawk to Blue Mountain Wildlife Rehabilitaion Center in Pendleton on Thursday, August 20...my last day off. Here is Marilyn holding the hawk while waiting for the exam anesthesia to wear off. The bat died on the way, and it turned out to have rabies! I didn't touch it. The others have had rabies shots. I got a call from the health department. Blue Mountain has treated over 200 birds this year. They have flight pens with all kinds of birds of prey there. The work they do is pretty amazing.
