We stayed at Maplemont Inn in Barnet, Vermont for two nights. Dr. Phineas Stevens was the first doctor in Barnet. His brothers surveyed the town for a Scottish settlement, and were some of the first business owners there. There is a Civil War monument in the center of town with our Great Great Grandfather Xerxes Stevens name. We learned more about Abiel and Phebe Blanchard of nearby Peacham. We visited many cemeteries and photographed headstones. We saw Harvey Lake, Harvey Rd., Harvey Meeting House, and Harvey Cemetery (where there are no Harveys: They're in West Barnet Cemetery) Alexander Harvey, the leader of the Scottish immigrant group, and his son Walter, were well know residents of Barnet.
