Emma, 12, made her first solo airline flight from San Francisco to Pasco on July 20 to visit Grandma Cherie and Grandpa Pedro. She spent a whole week with us. We had a Harry Potter Marathon; her friends at home were doing one, and we had to get Grandma up to speed. Then we went to see Harry Potter 7 Part 2. We both enjoyed it very much. We also went shopping, and Emma was thrilled to find her favorite store at Columbia Center - Abercrombie and Fitch. Then we drove to Portland Zoo and spent the night at a hotel there. We let Travelocity choose the a mystery hotel and got it for $50! It was okay - very nice for the price. We enjoyed dining together in the hotel restaurant.
We walked the whole zoo and went on the train ride. We loved the fruit bats, and lorikeets. We took video so I can make a bat video for my first graders. It was fun to have the lorikeets land on us to drink nectar from a cup. Emma shopped for her brother and sisters at the zoo store. She is a very good shopper. We also went shopping the next day at Lakeshore in Portland for things for my classroom.
Emma enjoyed ChaCha, Brandy, and Glory. We walked the dogs nearly everyday. Both girls enjoyed staying in the "grandkids' room." Desiree said, "It's kinda like a fantasy room."
Emma left July 26, ready for a tea party and a camping trip with her other grandparents.
